The meeting was held at the Parador de Turismo San Telmo de Tui, as a parallel activity to the Interreg Annual Meeting

The EGTC Rio Minho was one of the entities participating in the meeting that took place today in Tui on the visit of the European Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, Elisa Ferreira, who also participates in the Interreg Annual Meeting.

At this morning’s meeting at Parador de Turismo San Telmo, the EGTC Rio Minho highlighted, on the one hand, the need to develop cross-border multilevel governance and the promotion of cross-border citizenship and, on the other hand, the implementation of an integrated development strategy for the territory – Rio Minho Cross-border Strategy 2030 – and also joint management and mobilization in addressing existing problems on the Rio Minho.

The European Commissioner had the opportunity to learn directly, together with the various agents, about the cooperation projects being carried out between Spain and Portugal. After learning about the obstacles and the situation of the different projects, Elisa Ferreira highlighted the importance of generating employment, helping young families to settle in this territory, improving railway infrastructure and, above all, continuing to implement measures that respond to climate pressures and needs.

In addition to EGTC Rio Minho, the Eurocity Tui-Valença, the Eurocities Cerveira-Tomiño, Salvaterra-Monçao and Verín-Chaves, and the Eures Transfronteirizo participated in the meeting too.
