LIVHES

PROJECT

Living Heritage for Sustainable Development

The LIVHES project, “Living Heritage for Sustainable Development”, responds to a European need and a territorial challenge shared by regions with low population density in southern Europe: to find and implement new ways of valuing their important Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH), promoted by and recognized by UNESCO as a tool for sustainable economic development and territorial cohesion.

OBJECTIVES

  • Identify and study the best practices around the use of the ICH as an engine of local development and territorial cohesion.
  • Develop a common methodology for valuing the ICH and a strategy adapted to each participating region, which integrates best practices and responds to the problems detected.
  • Experiment the proposed methodology through 8 “pilot experiences” that combine sustainable development with the enhancement of the ICH.
  • Disseminate the SUDOE model through the creation of a network and a work plan.
