28 Apr The EGTC Rio Minho presented its pilot project of the Cross-border Rio Minho Intangible Cultural Heritage Center
It was born under the LIVHES initiative, which seeks to implement new ways to value the PCI as a tool for territorial cohesion
The EGTC Rio Minho opened its doors with a Transfer Seminar organized in Valença in which the results of the LIVHES project and the pilot project of the Center of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Cross-border Rio Minho were presented. The event had the participation of Luis Ulloa, who gave way to the projection of the video of the project, as well as the company responsible for creating a web platform that includes information on the Intangible Cultural Heritage (PCI) in the territory, a map and information about the network of museums and interpretation centers, as well as agenda and news.
Plans for the future of the Physical Heritage Center, which will be in the old Valença Customs House, were also discussed during the seminar. In addition, a traveling exhibition is currently being worked on. The initiative of the EGTC Rio Minho received the congratulations of the attendees, who in a very constructive debate, made several recommendations.
This event was an important step to promote and preserve the intangible cultural heritage of the Cross-border Rio Minho region. The Center for Intangible Cultural Heritage, together with the web platform, will play a key role in the dissemination and enhancement of this rich cultural heritage.
The LIVHES project, co-financed by the Interreg Sudoe Program through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), responds to a need and a territorial challenge shared by the sparsely populated areas of southern Europe: finding and implementing new ways to value heritage intangible culture as a tool for sustainable economic development and territorial cohesion.
