29 Mar The EGTC Rio Minho participates in Pau Béarn in the final activity of the LIVHES project
The nine partners of the project are meeting in the French town from today until March 31st to place the golden brooch on the European initiative to revalue intangible cultural heritage in the Sudoe territory
The LIVHES project, co-financed by the Interreg Sudoe Program through the European Regional Development Fund (#FEDER), enters its final stretch. The EGTC Rio Minho, together with the other 8 partners of the initiative, returns these days to the place where this project began in 2020 with the aim of revaluing the intangible cultural heritage of the least populated territories in southern Europe. From the 29th to the 31st of March they will be in the French town of Pau Béarn to seal their work and present the methodological guide prepared.
Representatives of EGTC Rio Minho will participate in three days of this meeting, which began this Wednesday 29th, evaluating the status of the project, reviewing the progress of the pilot experiences and finalizing the methodological guide drawn up over this time. Furthermore, study visits will be carried out to enclaves of intangible cultural heritage in the territory of Pays de Béarn and CIRDOC, hosts of this last event. Among them, the Creative Ciutat of Bearnese Culture, a hiking shoe manufacturer, a bell manufacturer and the Eco Museum of pastereo.
The last day of this new congregation will take place the transnational closing seminar of the European program Sudoe-LIVHES, which will be held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Pau throughout the day. The event will be open to all public and private agents working to promote heritage and will feature the participation of Timothy Curtis, general secretary of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage (PCI). The pilot experiences of each partner will also be presented and several round tables will be held related to the PCI, digitalization, and the role of youth.
The LIVHES project
The LIVHES initiative, co-financed by the Interreg Sudoe Program through the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), responds to a need and a territorial challenge shared by sparsely populated areas in southern Europe: finding and implementing new ways of putting value the PCI, promoted and recognized by UNESCO, as a tool for sustainable economic development and territorial cohesion.
Along with EGTC Rio Minho, Pau Béarn, Diputación de Teruel, Diputación de Burgos, Institut Català de Recerca in it Patrimonio Cultural (OCRPC), Município Barcelos, Universidad Pública de Navarra, CIRCOC Institut Occitan de Cultura and Pyrénées Haut Garonnaises de Communes are also partners in this initiative.
