26 Jun The EGTC Rio Minho welcomes OCDE analysts to learn about cross-border institutional cooperation in the Minho
It’s one of the representatives of five pilot regions in Europe selected to participate in the project “Building more resilient cross-border regions”
There will be two working days with meetings with Spanish, Portuguese and Galician government entities and with research staff and sectoral entities
The EGTC Rio Minho receives this June 26 and 27 a delegation of analysts from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OCDE) and the General Directorate of Regional and Urban Policy (DG Regio) of the European Commission, who will visit the territory of cross-border Rio Minho to learn first-hand the institutional dynamics and reality of this border region.
There will be two days chaired by the director of the EGTC Rio Minho, Uxío Benítez, and the Deputy Director, Rui Teixeira, in which Spanish, Portuguese and Galician government entities and research staff and social entities will meet to abroad institutional and cooperation relations on both sides of the Minho.
This visit is carried out under the project ‘Building more resilient cross-border regions’, since the OECD and DG Regio have selected the EGTC Rio Minho as one of the five pilot regions in Europe to participate in this initiative that aims to strengthen governance in cross-border spaces to improve quality of life of the population.
With a duration of 15 months, this project is based on helping the pilot cross-border regions to improve cross-border multilevel governance through the joint development of cross-border cooperation initiatives. In particular, the project seeks to analyze the joint creation and implementation in functional border areas of public policies such as a cross-border fiscal or service policy, with special emphasis on health, transport and education.
