Tui acolle un Foro de Mobilidade Transfronteirizo para reclamar un “tren do Miño”Next June 22 and 23, Tui will host the ‘Forum de Mobilidade Transfronteiriza do Río Miño: O ferrocarril do Miño. Unhas proximidades ferroviarias transfronteirizas’, a conference on the cross-border railway between Galicia and the north of Portugal organized by the Deputation of Pontevedra in collaboration with the EGTC Rio Minho, the CEER Foundation and the CIM Alto Minho.

This meeting seeks to learn from successful international experiences to promote a cross-border railway network and a proximity service between Vigo and Viana do Castelo to facilitate the daily mobility of the inhabitants of the cross-border Rio Minho.

This is a forum in which transport and mobility technicians from European cross-border territories where successful cases are being carried out, Galician and Portuguese academics specializing in railways and public bodies from Spain and Portugal will participate to debate the future of connectivity in the territory of the cross-border Rio Minho, promoting more efficient train connections that serve the neighborhood and tourists.

The director of the EGTC Rio Minho, Uxío Benítez, will be in charge of presenting the conclusions of this mobility forum, which will end with an institutional declaration with a manifesto in favor of a local cross-border railway.

The forum will be held tomorrow at the Parador de Turismo de Tui. People interested in participating can now register through the website of the Deputación de Pontevedra.

The event is funded by European FEDER funds through the SMART_MINO_PLUS project, a capitalization action within the scope of the 6th call for INTERREG VA POCTEP 2014-2020.
