The EGTC Rio Minho attends the launch of the new Interreg Spain-Portugal Program (POCTEP) 2021-2027, which will have a budget of 427 million euros

The EGTC Rio Minho attended today in Ayamonte the launch seminar of the new Spain-Portugal Interreg Program (POCTEP) 2021-2027, the cross-border cooperation program of the European Union, endowed with a total investment of 427 million euros between the years 2022 and 2027.

This new funding period represents “a fundamental opportunity to increase the volume of resources captured by the Rio Minho territory”, as explained by the director of the EGTC Rio Minho, Uxío Benítez, who was accompanied by the group’s technical secretariat. At the end of this year, the first calls for submitting candidacies to the program will open, which will be resolved in mid-2023. Uxío Benítez insisted that “it is essential to coordinate the work carried out by the different municipalities and create synergies between the local projects, since they all share common objectives” and advocated the creation of “a great structuring project for the entire territory”.

More than 3 million euros received in the previous POCTEP

In the framework of the previous Interreg Spain-Portugal Program for the period 2014-2020, the EGTC Rio Minho integrated the projects Smart Cooperation Strategy of the Rio Minho – Smart Minho (with a total allocation of 942,022.47€), Visit Rio Minho (2 million euros) and Rede Lab Minho, of which he was the main beneficiary (345,396.00 €), reaching a total of more than 3 million euros.
