01 Dec The Galician-Portuguese association Ponte… nas Ondas! makes history with its inclusion in UNESCO’s register of good practices
The EGTC congratulates and shares the joy of the Galician-Portuguese association Ponte… nas Ondas! for having become part of the Unesco’s Register of Best Practices, maximum recognition possible for their more than 20 years of exemplary work for the Minho cross-border immaterial culture. The verdict was announced during the celebration of the 17th UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee held this week in Rabat.
Precisely, in this line of work for the preservation of immaterial culture Ponte… nas Ondas! collaborated with the EGTC Rio Minho for the development of the Human Treasures of the Rio Minho project, an initiative to recover the cross-border Galician-Portuguese cultural memory that materialized in the creation of a web repository (https://smartminho.eu/tesouros-humanos-vivos/) with all the information collected, a documentary, a traveling exhibition, storytelling in schools and the edition of a children’s book.
This distinction is a historic fact since it is a Galician-Portuguese nomination, in any case, never has a nomination whether from Spain or Portugal managed to be part of the Register of Best Safeguarding Practices promoted by the United Nations.
