Sustainable Mobility Plan

The Sustainable Mobility Plan for the Cross-Border Minho/Miño River (PMST) is committed to putting people in the middle of planning an extensive territory: the most heavily traveled Iberian border and the one with the highest average vehicle flow (47%) between Spain and Portugal.

A sustainable mobility plan consists of a set of actions that aim to implement more sustainable forms of travel (walking, cycling, use of public transport…) reducing energy consumption and polluting emissions and achieving, at the same time, a improvement in citizens’ quality of life, economic development and social cohesion.

The PMST is the necessary instrument for rationally planning the movement of vehicles and people, meeting the requirements of all citizens, capable of designing the necessary changes in mobility in the face of the current hegemonic transport model focused on giving fluency and capacity to motorized vehicles.
